I think that in our letter we might quote
Mr. Bush (see (13) on 92612/32).
no inference.
Mr. Bushe
We need draw
Bushe's words speak for
themselves, and it would be difficult for even
Lt. Cdr. Hazlewood (see (1) on this file), if our
quotation came to his notice, to show that Mr.
Bush' s words do not mean what they say.

As to the enquiry regarding the
appointment of two Chinese lady inspectors, refer
to paragraph 10 of (1) and paragraph 6 of (1)
on 92613/32, copies of which are enclosed, and say
that in his speech at the annual meeting of the
Anti-Mui Tsai Society of HongKong, as reported in
the Hong Kong Jeekly Press of the 28th October last,
the English Secretary of the Society stated that
his Committee would doubtless observe with especial
pleasure that the Hong Kong Secretariat for Chinese
Affairs was now better organised to cope with the
Mui Tsai problem than at any other time, under one
Cadet, one Inspector and two Chinese lady assistants.
All cases of cruelty and non-registration brought to, what he described as, this Mui Tsai Bureau were, he
said, dealt with thoroughly and promptly.
